Happy, happy talk....

Talk Positive

Tuesday 11th July - Next Spanish Evening

All welcome!

cassettes and CDs

Anne Taylor shares why it is important to talk happy when it comes to language learning...

It is important to have a more positive attitude towards life as it aids learning and adds to the quality of life.Keep a look out. Watch and listen for all the good things that are happening that you hear about.

Listen to people talking,. listen to your neighbours , your family and friends. Focus on the good things. Search for them in newspapers and magazines. There are plenty of them every day.

Send them in to share in the ezine in The Language of Happy News.

What a wonderful world....how whale watching adds sparkle to life!

Learning Tips

Mnemonics Any technique which helps you remember is called a mnemonic. It provides a “trigger” and/or a sequence for memory.e.g. Richard Of York Goes Battling In Vain gives the first letter and correct sequence of the colours of the rainbow.

Be creative and make up your own. An acronym provides the first letter as a trigger.Try one of your own.

Simply the exercise of making up your own will also act as a trigger.Have fun with both and make them funny if possible. They often are in any case.

The Whale

If you read the front page story of the SF Chronicle, you would have read about a female humpback whale who had become entangled in a spider web of crab traps

and lines. She was weighted down by hundreds of pounds of traps that caused her to struggle to stay afloat. She also had hundreds of yards of

line rope wrapped around her body, her tail, her torso, a line tugging in her mouth.

A fisherman spotted her just east of the FarraloneIslands (outside the Golden Gate) and radioed an environmental group for help.

a very dangerous proposition.

One slap of the tail could kill a rescuer. They worked for hours with curved knives and eventually freed her.

When she was free, the divers say she swam in what seemed like joyous circles.

She then came back to each and every diver, one at a time, and nudged them,

pushed gently around-she thanked them. Some said it was the most incredibly beautiful experience of their lives.

The guy who cut the rope out of her mouth says her eye was following him the whole time, and he will never be the same.

May you, and all those you love,

be so blessed and fortunate ...

who will help you get untangled

from the things that are binding you.

And, may you always know the joy

of giving and receiving gratitude.

I pass this on to you, my friend, in the same spirit.
