Why Should I Learn another Language - Everyone Speaks English Don't They?

"As part of the European Union  we must integrate ourselves into this exciting union of diverse cultures and we can do this without losing our identity.
Business loses millions because we do not speak other languages.  Speaking the language of the country in which you wish to work or to trade with, will mean that you have a much greater choice of work opportunities and therefore higher wages  and European languages are amongst the most frequently used. Did you know that German is a popular language on the internet along with Chinese, Spanish and English?
“Every body speaks English “is not the way to engage with other cultures but is used as an excuse frequently for our own apathy.  It will improve your own listening, reading and speaking. Fluency in and knowledge of another language enhances ones own language.
It also shows that you are willing to get to know other people and themselves. This creates a lot of good will. Certainly a British person speaking another language will command a lot of respect. For the moment you will be a rare breed but a popular one."  Anne Taylor

Follow Your Nose to Smarter Learning!

Most people are familiar with aromatherapy - but did you know...Some essential oils will waken the brain while others will relax you.The trick is to find the one that is most effective for you.

To feel alert try  lemon, peppermint, rosemary or cypress. To achieve a more relaxed state use ylang ylang, geranium or rose.

For me that is rosemary. I love it and the feeling of being alive and ready for anything that it gives me. It is also useful to have one of these oils in the car if you are going on a long journey as getting stuck in a traffic jam can be tiring. It is good to have something there to help you stay alert.

Try combining oils with music and listening to music whilst you study. The use of music in healing and learning is huge Bulgarian George Lazanov developed a system of learning using music. From him we learn that baroque music can be particularly helpful:- Bach, Vivaldi and Handel to name but a few composers. In Don Campbell's book 'The Mozart Effect' read about Tomatis,  who developed a very successsful system with music to help children and adults with autism.obtainable from Amazon see the link on  languages for all

“Music when soft voices die, vibrates in the memory.”
Music can be used to trigger the memory. I have used it to ask students to make up jingles for words and verbs they need to learn. It’s great fun and very effective. For those who wish to read more there is a section in Superlearning by Sheila Ostrander and Lynn Schroeder
